About me and how I work
I see counselling and psychotherapy as a process that can enable you to explore and understand your difficulties in a safe, confidential and supportive relationship. My practice is based on an ethos of
respect, empathy and empowerment. I work in a
non-judgemental and collaborative way to help you resolve both long-standing as well as more immediate difficulties and to free yourself to make choices and changes that can enhance your life in a positive way.
I use an
integrative approach in my work which means that I draw on a variety of therapeutic models to create a response appropriate to the needs of the individual. This means that my work draws from both humanistic and psychodynamic traditions. More specifically, my approach is informed by
Cognitive Analytic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.
As well as a
Masters Degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling I hold a Diploma in Counselling. Every year I take part in additional training, workshops and conferences in order to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field.
I work for the
Ruby Centre as a counsellor and psychotherapist and in private practice. I also worked for many years as a university counsellor.
I am
accredited as a counsellor and psychotherapist with the
United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and work to their
Code of Ethics. I am also a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
